Schmitt Anderson Architects is a small, efficient architectural firm founded in 1988, fostering individualized work for our clients. The portfolio of work is extremely diverse in commission size and vocabulary. Our office has embraced institutional, commercial, and residential endeavors. This range has enabled us to ‘cross-reference’ ideas, details, solutions, maintain discipline, experiment a bit, and offer strict quality control. Our experience and development would have been less creative and comprehensive had we strictly specialized in one 'concentration.' Our process and approach remain the same - regardless of project type.
Frederick Schmitt and Reidun Anderson are Cornell Architecture graduates, each with more than 30 years professional practice experience. We have completed over 600 projects and are licensed to practice in six states on the East Coast. The work is largely commissioned by long-term repeat clientele and entities with long-range building programs. New work nearly always stems from personal recommendations.
Our firm engages the context of a project, whether new or old, and subsequently is skilled at renovation of older structures and involvement with less than perfect facilities as well as new developments. Despite often complex or difficult constraints in budget, site, program, timing, etc. we have had great success in bringing the Owner's goals to life, sometimes obtaining difficult municipal approvals or solving seemingly hopeless issues without interruption, punitive change orders or undue problems which are all too common.
